Jordache Jeans Then and Now
Jordache Jeans is an iconic and popular brand since the ’70s. Their logo, history, return from the ’80s, Heidi Klum for Walmart, and Sarah Jessica Parker have been their brand everyone knows. These jeans were the designer jeans of then and now (Source).
The Logo
The brand logo for Jordache Jeans. The label came out in 1978. The name was from letters of the Nacash family (Source) and it was listed as a new baby name.
A Slice of History
The popular Jordache Jeans started in 1969. Three brothers, Joe, Avi, and Ralph Nacash moved to the United States from Israel to learn and live the American dream. They all got jobs in Manhattan clothing stores working in stock rooms and on sales floors.
The brothers then built up a small chain of designer jean stores and sold the designer jeans for less. In 1977 the largest store was looted and burned down during the blackout of New York City, as told by Time Magazine. With the insurance payout the brothers decided to start manufacturing their own line.
The first tv ad was rejected except local commercials in New York. Jordache jeans then became popular almost overnight with teenage girls. The denim jeans, at an affordable price, became famous and spread all over the world (Source).

Jordache Returns from the 80’s
Back in the 80’s, everyone seemed to have a pair of jeans with the horse logo on them. Now, in 2005, fashion was turning around and the 80’s style is coming back. The Nacash brothers had a large number of pockets with the horse logo on them, so they used them for the new jeans. They changed the denim and washed look, but kept the pockets.
Now, the premium craze is here. Stores can’t keep them in stock as told by the Sentinel Newspaper in Florida.
Heidi Klum: The Jordache Jeans Icon
“Our original rise was 13 inches; today they’re 8 inches,” Nakash says.
The biggest difference is the price. Wal-Mart sells them and now premium is sold in clothing stores. The process to change the denim wash is a much longer process to make, the website states. The popular jeans are back in the cool 80’s styles.
Heidi Klum is now the face of Jordache Jeans for Wal-mart.
